Gavin Brown's enterprise, 439 W 127th St
Come celebrate the release of 2016–17 artist in residence Autumn Knight’s new book, Autumn Knight: In Rehearsal, published by Krannert Art Museum at the University of Illinois with support from Project Row Houses. The evening will feature a reading by Krannert Art Museum curator and contributing author Amy L. Powell; a discussion between Knight and Powell and Nico Wheadon, Director of Public Programs and Community Engagement, on the book’s critical contribution to Black women performance archives.
After the conversation join us for a reception next door at Studio Museum 127, where guests can visit Radical Reading Room and pick up a copy of the book.
This program is presented in collaboration with Gavin Brown's enterprise on the occasion of Radical Reading Room. Reserved first-row seating available for Studio Museum Members.
The entrance to Gavin Brown's enterprise is accessible to visitors who use wheelchairs or other forms of assistance for walking.
On May 23 join ICI for a workshop with Autumn Knight and Amy L. Powell in celebration of their recent publication Autumn Knight: In Rehearsal. As artists are increasingly reflecting on modes of institutional knowledge production to make their work, the role of the curator is shifting. We’ll be thinking through how these changes are shaping artist-curator dynamics.
